Fantastic food festivals in the Docklands

London's Docklands are steeped in heritage as the capital's arrival point for fine foods from across the world, and in the last 20 years the locality has flourished as a centre of gastronomic excellence, so it is appropriate that two of the UK's foremost food festivals are being held in the Docklands this next week.

Tobacco Dock in Wapping plays host to the Festive Taste of London, which begins on Thursday 17th November, with artisan food and drink producers such as Field & Flower, The Datery, and Comuna & Porteña showcasing their wonderful wares.

This carefully-curated collection of culinary delights includes workshops and demonstrations from chefs who have performed at the highest level, including Angela Hartnett, Jun Tanaka, and Pascal Aussignac, whilst some of the most exciting restaurants such as Tom's Kitchen, El Barrio, Oldroyd, and Native will be producing delectable dishes for hungry delegates.

The Foodies Festival at The Old Truman Brewery begins on Friday 18th November, offering a veritable feast for the senses, encompassing delicious food, exciting cooking classes, and music from a selection of genres spanning rock, folk, and urban.

From Christmas cake to mince pies, through to brandy snaps, the Yuletide season goes hand-in-hand with confectionery, so Candice Brown (Great British Bake Off Winner 2016) will share her recipes for successful baking, whilst Charlotte White demonstrates the art of making a traditional Christmas cake.

The Chef's Theatre will host the sublime cooking skills of MasterChef Winner 2016 Jane Devonshire, plus those of Dhruv Baker from The Jolly Gardener, with The Drinks Theatre serving up a selection of fun and informative tutorials, including Wines of Germany with Charles Metcalfe, and a beer-tasting session with Melissa Cole.

A range of artisan food and drink producers will be in hand to provide locally-sourced, ethical goods for you to take home (or devour immediately, as the case may be). Classic Christmas cuisine is available, with one of the highlights likely to be the Festive Favourites exhibition in The Pudding Hall.

These magnificent celebrations of all things gastronomy promise to further cement the Docklands' status as a beacon of quality cuisine, whilst also adding a dash of festive fun to proceedings.
