Comedy, cabaret, and culture in Canary Wharf
The statuesque skyscrapers of Canary Wharf may not seem like a hotbed of eclectic arts, but Spiegeltent is back to cement its place as one of the capital's most diverse arts programmes.
Running from Thursday 22nd September to Sunday 2nd October, Spiegeltent infuses this vibrant business hub with a cultural presence to rival that of the continent's finest cities.
Wednesday 28th sees the return of the Comedy Club, with compère Mae Martin introducing Felicity Ward (one of the stars of Russell Howard’s Good News, The John Bishop Show, and Spicks and Specks), the Birthday Girls, Beattie Edmondson, Rose Johnson and Camille Ucan. Doors open at 7.30pm for this not-to be missed celebration of women comedians.
The Coffee House Sessions on Thursday 29 September bring to the fore acoustic music from some of the UK's most talented musicians, so for a lunchtime of wonderful music, just pop along to Canada Square Park between 12.00pm and 2.30pm.
The written word is the focus of one of London's most innovative writing workshops, as Write & Shine on the morning of Friday 30th sees writer Gemma Seltzer host a session design to inspire and invigorate writers, with a theme of the inspirational power of each day's new dawn.
With such a wonderful range of creative pursuits heralding in the new season, autumn looks set to follow blissfully in the footsteps of a wonderful summer in the city's most dynamic district.
