Classic cuisine and mellow moods at The Narrow
the narrow pub, food, drink, whats on canary wharf
From its vantage point between Canary Wharf and the City of London, Limehouse blends the beauty of riverside living with close proximity to the centre of London, and The Narrow is a barometer of the evolution of this district.
Reflecting Gordon Ramsay’s vision of combining high-quality British ingredients with a splash of Mediterranean gusto, The Narrow serves a seasonal menu against the wonderful waterside backdrop of the Thames.
The Grade II-listed riverside building boasts a light, airy bar and terrace which provides the ideal venue for after-work drinks and light bites, complementing the simplistic elegance of the dining room.
Views of London’s waterways and iconic skyscrapers anchor you firmly to the energy of the capital, whilst the cuisine takes you on a journey of the best of British, with the à la carte menu featuring the cured and smoked mackerel with heritage potato and beetroot, alongside a lovely creamy sweetcorn soup.
Main courses such as the roast duck breast with Puy lentils and baby carrot and thyme jus, and the slow-roast Dingley pork belly with cider and apple sauce, bear the hallmarks of the Ramsay mantra of rustic, hearty flavours and textures.
Half a dozen desserts, including the pear and plum crumble, and the nougat parfait with roasted figs provide varying degrees of sweetness, as the wine list pays homage to the best of British and French wines, with the Chapel Down English Rosé vying for attention against our continental cousins’ Merlot.
The Narrow’s “Kids Eat for Free” initiative (under-12s can choose from sausage and mash, fish and chips, or pasta and tomato sauce) is a nice touch that brings a fantastic family vibe to the dining room, and is a wonderful way to introduce children to the delights of eating out.
For a dining experience which offers something for everyone but never compromises on quality, The Narrow is difficult to surpass.
