After-hours in the Square Mile

The City of London truly is a place of hidden gems, blending regal splendour with cutting-edge modernity, and its eclectic variety of nightlife dares you to explore it further.

Kanaloa is an exotic idyll amongst the hustle and bustle of London’s business district, with its Hawaiian décor complemented by tropical cocktails such as the Kanaloa Kula, the signature drink consisting of Bacardi, lemon, star anise, lime sugar, pomegranate juice.

Sharing jugs including the PukaPuka Punch (a Rangoon-style punch with Leblon cachaca, Nui Nui syrup, lemon, ginger and a full bottle of Perrier Jouët Champagne) and the Krakatoa (rum, raspberries and strawberries, with cranberry juice and apple juice) are a wonderful way to welcome in the weekend.

The music is varied and features something for most tastes, with themed nights offering different genres from the resident and guest DJs, as well the opportunity to tailor the playlists for your private event.

A selection of platters and sharers, including the Island Luau Platter and the Crispy Duck Platter, nicely assuage any pangs of hunger and provide that bit of ballast required for a night on the tiles. Kanaloa is also well worth visiting on a Saturday night, when you can see the Square Mile through the lens of a more tranquil scope.

Amber, situated snugly between Moorgate and Liverpool Street, brings a frenetic energy to the City scene, with the retro beats providing a familiar soundtrack that acts as the backdrop to a truly memorable night out.

The dancefloor provides the glitz and the glamour to kick-start your evening, with a spacious, beautifully-lit space, and the drinks list features favourites such as the Sapphire Breeze (Bombay Sapphire with cranberry and grapefruit juice) and the Bubblegum Mojito ((Bacardi Superior, lime, bubblegum syrup, fresh mint, and bubblegum bon bons).

To prepare yourself for this odyssey into disco-land, a sumptuous selection of food is on offer, including filling mains including the Spicy Chipotle Chicken Burger (chicken breast topped with bacon, avocado, chilli slaw, lettuce and chipotle red pepper sauce), and lighter bites such as the sweet potato fries.

Open until 1.00am Monday to Wednesday and 2.00am on Thursdays and Fridays (as well as private hire choices for Saturday and Sunday), Amber gives you licence to party as you please.
